How Cisco employees volunteer, give, and get involved

Cisco combines human and technology networks to multiply our positive impact on people, communities, and the planet. We encourage Cisco employees to be part of the equation by contributing their time, treasure, and talent. See what we are up to: like Cisco CSR on Facebook and follow @ciscocsr on Twitter

Global Hunger Relief Campaign

Employees volunteer hands-on help with food sorts at food bank warehouses and also make cash donations during the annual Global Hunger Relief Campaign. In 2012, employees contributed 38,800 volunteer hours and raised over $4 million total via their personal donations which were triple  matched. Our 2013 activities included:

Volunteer Hours Matched with Cash

The Cisco Foundation matches employee volunteer time to qualifying nonprofit organizations and U.S. schools with a $10/hour cash contribution. During fiscal year 2013, Cisco employees contributed more than 129,000 volunteer hours. Employees are encouraged to volunteer at least one day of service every year.

  • Citizen Schools: Cisco volunteers share their passion during 10-week apprenticeships, where at-risk students learn about careers from Citizen Schools’ largest contingent of Citizen Teachers.
  • Disaster Relief: Cisco employees give generously when disaster strikes. After a 100-year flood in India, for example, Cisco employees volunteered 2700 hours through Project Samudaya.

Civic Councils

Teams of employee champions at select Cisco locations plan volunteer events, develop partnerships, roll out product donation programs, and make local cash donations. Cisco has active Civic Councils in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Interested employees can find out about their local Civic Councils on Cisco Webex Social.

Employee Product Donations

Cisco employees may purchase Cisco equipment at a 75 percent discount for donation to qualified nonprofit organizations and U.S. schools. Interested employees can find out more on Cisco WebEx Social.
